We have a caravan on a site. We get a yearly electricity bill and have not been told our unit price for usage for the past year. Every time weve asked we are told they dont know and it will show on your yearly bill. Am i entitled legally to know how much my current unit price is for electricity

Welcome to the forum. Are you paying the energy company directly, or is the landlord reselling it?If the latter, he's not allowed to make a profit. However, it may be a commercial contract, hence liable to 20% VAT rather than 5%, and have a high standing charge so that may help to explain any high costs.0

Thanks for your response. We dont pay direct to suppliers we pay our site on receipt of a yearly bill. The problem is that the site have not informed us of the unit price as per previous years and when asked tell us they dont know it and it will be on the bill at the end of the year. So we have no idea how much we are being charged. Surely we should be informed of the unit price we are going to be charged for the impending year and not have no knowledge of it until the bill comes.0

You could try asking them which tariff and supplier they are with and then you can look up the rates yourself.0

It should be around £0.25/kWh.

If they don't know unit price, then how do they know how much to charge you?Sounds as though your bill is an estimate.Do you have a separate meter for your caravan?0

Quite probably the site owners contract terminates during the year - he won't know the unit rates until about a month before then.
Never pay on an estimated bill. Always read and understand your bill0 -
The site negotiate with the energy supplier. Every caravan has its own meter which they read once a year(Jan) then generate you a bill. Weve always been informed of the unit price before the year starts from the deal the site negotiates .My query is legally do we have a right to know the unit price upfront for the upcoming year as after many times of asking over the last year weve been given no information of what were actually paying per unit0

Try asking Citizens Advice. If there's anything dodgy going on they need to be aware.0
