Beware of Evri – Stolen Item, Suspicious Activity & Possible Scam!

Options

I sent an envelope via Evri for next-day delivery (yes, I know, big mistake!) to a business with urgency. Here’s how it went:

  • They attempted delivery FOUR days later—on a Saturday (business closed) and again on Sunday (still closed).
  • Final attempt: Scheduled outside business hours, so someone from the garage stayed late to receive it.

When the envelope was handed over, it was empty, clearly torn open by someone at Evri. The delivery driver even posted a picture concealing the ripped side as proof of delivery! When questioned, he shrugged his shoulders and walked off. The recipient immediately reported the issue, took pictures, and raised a claim.

On top of this, I received a suspicious text from "Evri" on the same number I used for the order, asking me to verify my details. I never click on random links, so I checked my Evri account directly—nothing there. Pretty sure it was a scam.

Then, a few days later, I noticed an unauthorized charge on my card (the same one I used for Evri) at Morrisons—a place I rarely shop at and definitely haven’t visited in months. Card now frozen and bank contacted.

Putting this all together, I strongly suspect something dodgy is happening at Evri—possibly an organized criminal gang operating internally.

I’ve lodged a formal complaint and compensation claim, but I’ll NEVER use Evri again. Be warned! 🚨

Evri have the worst reputation of all couriers.  If you want an envelope delivered, why look any further than Royal Mail?
It is possible that a corrupt Evri employee got hold of your [encrypted] credit card details, another Evri employee got your phone number, and another corrupt Evri employee delivered your envelope ripped open.  How many people think this is likely - even for Evri?

Did you choose them based on price, by any chance?

This is a deduction many people make when they see fraud on their card.

Far more likely details were taken a long time ago & details sold on.
Think about it. Anyone that orders form the likes of morrisons have to provide address details, so that would be one very stupid evri employee to do that.

Makes no difference they are all as bad as each other
Recent experiences with UPS who charge top dollar
Sent us a packing  label which lists a pickup point that I understand has not been an agent for over a year ( ditto listed on their website)  Told them so but they cannot be bothered to fix
Took parcel to pickup point over an hour before cut off. Told that the driver had already been and was not likely to return
Lost a parcel. last note on tracking at pickup point who deny having it. Then returned to sender
