when applying for UC, what proof of benefit letters do you need to submit?

Thank you for everyone on this forum for the support they provide on everyones questions xx.

a) When applying for UC what benefit letters do you need to scan and upload?

ESA for example ?

b)  When doing the online application, how long should it approximately take?

(if you have all your details and information with you that is)

20 minutes? 1 hour?

c)  if your housing benefit  rent changes every year (landlord increases due to market)

which is November every year due to slight higher new rent

which causes a brand new tenancy

If apply for UC now (Jan/Feb)

c) then do you have to reapply for UC adjustment every time your tenancy changes?

so every November) apply for a UC Adjustment due to the increase in rent/new tenancy??  And have to upload the fresh new tenancy?

d) or Every November we would have to update them on the UC apply portal and submit the new tenancy?

added

e) is the day you apply online the same day you receive your 1st payment in 5 weeks

Example if you apply Monday 3rd Feb, you will receive your 1st payment in 5 weeks on Monday the 10th of March ?

or if you do  you application  on a Friday you  receive your 1st payment on a friday in 5 weeks ?

Thank you xxx

You do not have to scan or upload any benefit letters to claim UC. If you rent increases you do have to report this by amending your housing details. How long it takes to apply for UC on line depends on how complex your situation is and whether this is a joint or single claim. I am not sure that a rent increase creates a new tenancy but UC may ask to see evidence of a rent increase in the form of a letter from the landlord or lettings agency. Just to be aware that you cannot report an increase in rent ahead of the date form which the date on which this takes place. Are you moving to UC under the managed migration process?

    Here are the details again:
Uc application to be done soon,
rent on a 1 year by year contract increases due to landlord increasing due to market rent. this generates a new tenancy every November which has the new rental amount on.
can you explain your point as dont follow. Thank you xx
you can use example dates to show it.

    e) Yes if claiming on 3rd Feb  your Assessment Period will run from  3rd to the 2nd and you get paid 7 days after end of the AP (unless weekend or bank holiday then it's brought forward).

If your rent increases on, for instance, the 5th November, you can't report it in advance.

So if you got a letter through giving two weeks' notice of the rent increase, you still can't report it as a change until the 5th November because UC 'makes decisions' based on changes that have actually happened.  It can't 'make a decision' based on something that's not yet happened.
