Refund of deposit

Options
Hi,

i had a cold call from a security company regarding cctv and the rep was very convincing of the virtues of their system which seems excellent. I signed a contract and paid a £400 deposit! I then had second thoughts and e mailed their website to cancel as there is 14 days grace in which to do so. However, i then talked myself back into it and rang to say i wanted to purchase again three days later. But, i then started doing more research and asked myself did i really need to spend what is quite a fee when i could buy locally cheaper for something that is good enough for my property. So, i cancelled again. The accounts got my message on the sunday , the day before work was supposed to commence. I rang on the Monday and the receptionist told me to email them with my reference regarding my cancellation which i did on Monday morning. I dont know why i'm worrying but should this be ok regarding my refund of the deposit?

Hi, thanks, no the message got picked up on their system on the sunday so they got the message to the engineer doing the job in good time! I'm wondering whether they will have incurred a cost through me dithering?

I doubt it, unless they have to create something bespoke for your particular installation.  I can't see that being the case, surely it will all be from "parts that are on the van" sort of thing.

Easy to be wise after the event, but if I'm cold called they don't get past their first sentence.  I just hang up.
