Impact of withdrawing insurance claim

We lost some roof tiles during a storm. We didn't want the fuss of having to interview roofers etc so we claimed it on the insurance. However, after the assessor has come out it turns out they just give you a cash sum and you have to sort the work yourself. Obviously this is the one bit we didn't want to do and paying for the work directly would potentially be less than the excess plus increased premiums over the next years.
Question is, is it worth withdrawing the claim. I spoke to the insurance company and they said the claim would stay on file but they wouldn't increase my premiums because of it but that other insurers may.
So I don't know what's best, if I pay for it myself will I end up both paying for the work but also enjoying increased premiums if I don't stay with the insurer I'm with?

AFAIK you will still be classed as having made a claim even if you withdraw it. So your premiums may well rise anyway.0

I checked GoCompare and it does ask if you have made a claim but gives an option to say you didn't follow through. Is that likely to count much or is it either you started a claim or didn't and the details aren't terribly important?

Each insurer will have their own rating for how it impacts policy premium.0
