IVA - not cleared after 8-9 years

Hello, 

my partner and I are trying to get a mortgage. His IVA was taken out in 2016 with vanguard insolvency. He had a phone call and of 2023 to say it had been completed. 

However, we have now found out that the company who took it over, Ebengate,  have kept his file open, stating he owes money still, however shouldn’t this have been wiped after 6 years anyway? It’s been 8 years, 3 months since the file was opened. 

And why is it still showing on his credit file? Shouldn’t this also wipe after 6 years?  It’s preventing us getting a mortgage. 

Please help!

Did he not get any information in writing to confirm that the IVA had completed?

OK So when did he make his last payment?

Did he have a mortgage and did he have to remortgage after 5 years?

If he didn't have a mortgage did he have to pay an extra year?

If he didn't have a mortgage why did he do an IVA?

You do realize if he is asked during a mortgage application 'Have you ever been insolvent' he has to answer yes?

A surprising number of IVAs are still 'current' after 6, 7, 8, even 10 years. Something that never gets mentioned when you are being sold one.

It is correct for it to continue to show on the credit files until it is terminated. It only drops off at the 6-year point if it has finished by then.

Ebensgate need to itemise what is still owed and why.
