Morning all
Dry here for now but more rain due later, I am off to collect Rob and take him to work, we are having to leave a bit earlier today as we have a meeting with the care provider that he might be using for respite should be an interesting day.
Dinner tonight will be pizza and salad as I will be in late again, DD did a wash last night which I have just put in the TD as it’s too damp out, I have just put another load in to wash, dd will hang it up before she goes to work.
A small amount of money arrived yesterday, you are all absolutely right in the fact that Rob would not be able to get any out or think that he might need some, Rob has two sisters one of them has a LD like him and both were adopted as small children the other sister who is mums natural daughter does not have a LD so the SW and I have been in touch with her during this whole business, I sent her an email breakdown of costs for Rob for the week including lunches / activities and taxi fares and asked her to provide the money once a week so that Rob can continue with his normal activities, she sent a small amount no where near the budget I had asked for so I have stepped back from paying the taxis the carers at his house can deal with that, I shall have to be in touch with her for next week to up the budget a bit as what she sent was not enough, I am sure they think I am somehow making a profit out of the money 🙄 but it is all accounted for and all receipts kept, the whole situation is being made far more complicated than it needs to be.
I bought some daffodils yesterday for the kitchen which are about to bloom so a nice splash of colour for these dark days.
Have good days all and take care xx12 -
Morning everyone
I finally finished my clear out for our Heart Foundation shop yesterday, I now have 14 black bags full sitting in my hall, they're getting collected after 11 this morning. I needed it done before my new...well new to me...bedroom furniture comes on Monday.
Yesterday I had an email from Ryannair saying my flights to Marrakesh were cancelled - when I looked they are stopping their direct flights there at the end of March...which is very helpful when I'm going in April! I've had to change the date to a few days later and now have to fly from Edinburgh, which is fine except I get back at 11.30 at night. So I've had to pay just over £100 to stay at the airport, which was annoying as it was only costing £40 to stay at Newcastle, which I've now lost as I booked the cheapest room...therefore unrefundable...lesson learnt!
Luckily DD hasn't booked her flights yet, she'll email the Riad we're staying in, hopefully we can still stay there, but if not there are loads more to choose from.
DD took little one to the RVI on Monday as she had hardly eaten all weekend and was still sleeping too much - she's had more blood tests and they kept her in to monitor her. They put her on a milk feed last night, which should hopefully give her more energy, and her consultant will go and see her this morning.
Best get on, I need to go down to mam and dads before the man from charity shop comes.
Hope everyone has a good day x11 -
Morning all from Mehefinland
Had the vet's bill for Showman's colic yesterday and one element was more than double that which they charged in August last for Scooby when she had the treaded problem. Much to-ing and fro-ing of emails and they finally decided that they had probably undercharged the August bill as they didn't know if the vet had done the particular procedure at the time, or had failed to charge for it. I'm at a bit of a loss to challenge that as I don't remember and it was the day that Dawn passed so much of it is a blur. I will pay obviously as I need them more than they need me but I will be mindful if it happens again ( the colic, that is). Just under £400 is a small price to pay in many ways. If you remember my tale of the little dog who lost an eye, the final bill for that came to just under £1500 none of which the insurance company would cover!! Please insert your suitable choice of rude words here.
In other news, my library may be getting a grant to upgrade our toilet to disabled compliant facility. Got to get 3 quotes sorted quickly , so today's task is to spec out a tender and get somebody interested in quoting.
Other than that its a bit same old. Horses seem happy, but I must trim Scooby's mane sometime soon -it looks dreadful at the moment, but the weather hasn't helped.
A slight rant - out illustrious council sent the man around with his yellow paint to mark up potholes ( must be getting near the end of the financial year) and yesterday a team of herberts came along to carry out the repairs. I hadn't really taken much notice as I had been in the village and doing bits and bobs. However when I went to do the guys at mid day these idiots had dumped all the old tarmac which they had scraped out in my gateway!! Now under different circumstances I may have been pleased, but at this time of year it is just another obstacle to be sorted. I spent a good hour clearing up as much as I could get so that I can get animals and vehicles in and out as necessary. I noticed later that they had done a similar thing on the gateways to the fields on the opposite side of the road. They probably thought they were heling out in fairness, but is a help i could have done without. Grrr!
Hugs and spoons as always,
Mehefin aka Derek

Happy 21st to @Coxy's DS - great age!Good to hear that @DP1's little one is getting medical attention again. What a blooming nuisance about the flights, just when everything was sorted. You do right @Ruby - you should not be out of pocket for looking after Rob. I'd photocopy (take a photo these days!) and send to his sister.@S@Suffolksue - enjoy the birthday lunch - whose birthday is it?I've been out to the delivery office, it's a gloriously bright though cold day. Such a contrast to the weekend. It looks as is Spring is road testing itself in preparation for the real thing. Little buds of snowdrops are forcing their way through the old foliage by the walls.8

Morning! Off out to a garden center this morning to spend my birthday treat before it expires. Then there will be a spot of browsing to see what I'd like but won't pay for because it's too expensive for what it is
I replaced the electrical conduit yesterday [when we had some electrical work done, they opened the old stuff and then the wires wouldnt fit back in again] so the next job under the stairs is put up some shelves. After that, clean and seal the floor and then it's done. I never realised before how slow I've gotten, I could have done all that in less than a week before now. I also think I was using it as an excuse not to go and sort out the room of doom but hey ho, I'll get round to it eventually... Weather today is cold but not wet yet, huzzah!
I did giggle at some of the stories about parents and how cantakerous they were...Ruby, how annoying, honestly something you can do without really. Poor Rob, he just keeps being treated like he doesn't deserve things between his mother not dressing him properly, being late with money for his activities and now his sister doing the same thing. Mehefin, I'd be making a complaint to them straightaway and asking for them to come and fetch it, clearing up is not your concern, even if they were putting it there to collect today, it's not a dumping ground when it isn't their land. SO, well done on adapting and overcoming spicy chicken problemsAllie, oh dear! good luck with replacing them! Can't go wrong with Docs, probably not great for a lot of hill tramping though. Coxy, the impact of gardening in whatever form is a great mental health improver, but watch out, it's completely addictive too
Take care all, it's a nippy one, poodle's up!Non me fac calcitrare tuum culi11 -
Morning all. We have sunshine!
Cloudless blue sky and very calm out, with tomorrow forecast to be the same. I haven't planned anything specific for today but whatever it turns out to be, I'll definitely be more productive than the last few days when it's been so dreary. The sun always seems to help with energy levels and enthusiasm.
Yesterday's main task was sorting through jewellery - I haven't got loads of it btw - and now there's even less. Some pieces are in the CS bag - nothing of monetary or sentimental value - along with a not needed jewellery box. I mended a link ring on a necklace that just needed tightening up, took all of 10 seconds, and have put aside a bracelet that needs a couple of stones sticking back in when I get a suitable glue. I've got out of the habit of wearing the bling since I retired, I should make more of an effort. Today I'm wearing a pendant that DH gifted me a long time ago.
Last night's tea was a make do of leftovers of beef in gravy and swede/carrots from Sunday served up with dumplings. Yesterday's planned pizza and side salad has moved to today.
Gers - Glad you've got your TV fixed.
Allie - You might find some good quality boots in the sales, lots of companies seem to be offloading winter stocks.
Coxy - Happy birthday to DS2.
Ruby - Everything seems to be complicated these days, I hope you get the money situation sorted soon.
dp1 - Shame about the flights and well done on the clear out, that's a lot of bags. Hugs for LO.
mehefin - Ouch to the vets bills. I hope the pothole repairs were a proper job and not just a bodge it, especially after leaving the old tarmac in a stupid place.
Right, off to check if the recycling bins have been emptied and test the weather. Have a good day all, hugs where needed or wanted. Take care. XBe kind to others and to yourself too.9 -
Morning all, it's dry here but still only 3 degrees, will it ever warm up ?
Yesterday my omelette turned out well despite being made out of odds and ends, today will be chicken and chips so an easy tea. I have given up with my book so I'll check my "library" for another, shame really because the author is normally one I enjoy. I've asked Mr Fix It to bring my jigsaw down board from upstairs as I had a few new ones as presents and I'm itching to start one of those. First though I have to do some household chores, hoovering up the crumbs downstairs, putting some clothes away and filling my med box for the week. Such excitement but these things must be done first because it will be so easy to let things slip and slide into chaos.
We checked dad's bills this morning and apparently he hadn't paid his phone bill since Aug and was about to be cut off. He normally tells us when he has a bill but he's now telling me every time that he's got a letter but can't understand it until I say I'll have to get social services involved because he can't look after himself and he soon changes his tune 🤨. Sorry to send everyone down the rabbit hole with cantankerous Dad stories but it's nice to know I'm not alone.
dp1 hope little one is back out of hospital soon. Grr to the flight.
AA enjoy looking for a new van today.
Mehefin I'd be annoyed at the council too, what if you weren't fit enough to move it !
Coxy happy 21st to your DS, hope he's free for lunch.
Camelot I was always the daft one who volunteered for first aid courses too.
Sorry if I have forgotten anyone, my memory is not what it used to be.
Take care all, enjoy the day whatever you are doing
nan xx

Morning everyone been and done a cleaning job this morning and the sun has got out what a difference it’s chilly but it makes you feel so much better so I’ve walked in put the couple of doormats in to wash they were shameful and cleaned all my windows inside I’ve been like Billy whizz sitting having a cuppa now Taff I agree with you I get annoyed at myself when I’m doing things slower in fact the other week I was walking home and I’ve always been a fast walker and there was a young girl in front of me and she seemed to be getting further and further in front of me I thought I’m not having this so I set off at a pace marching along I caught up with her eventually I must have looked like something of Benny hill then I thought to myself why she was probably going to work you have all day to get home give your head a shake women .DP1 I hope the little one gets sorted and is home soon she seems to have struggled with her feeding since she was in last time . Ruby stick to your guns with the money situation you shouldn’t have to be paying. Right I need to crack on I have a couple of shepherds pie’s to make . Thinking of all the poorlies hugs to those that need them have a good day everyone whatever you are doing8

Hi everyone,
I've not been posting because I'm still struggling with this cough and all my energy seems to be being taken up by the childcare, cooking etc. It also makes for a very boring life I'm afraid.
Anyway, the family went to Bristol at the weekend for another recce and it seems they will be moving there, but not certainly, they are still looking about half an hour from us. To be honest I think that is Laura's first preference, she wouldn't have to start up a new acupuncture practice and would have us around still for childcare. However, Brian seems intent on Bristol and I think will get his way. I'm at the stage that I just wish they would make up their minds!
Laura has just heard from the hospital, Esben has an appointment for a pre-op assessment for his grommets on Friday, they have now said they'd like to do the op on Saturday. It will be good if it works and he's waited nine months but we're a bit anxious about it. It's nothing to what your little one goes through dp1, the constant anxiety must be so wearing for you and her mum.
Happy birthday to your son Coxy.
Mehefin, it never rains but it pours, I hope the animals stay healthy for a while now.
Have a good day.8
