Hello all. I am a new to the forum and I'm sorry if this particular subject has been covered. I could not find what I needed.
I have booked a holiday now (January 2025) to go abroad in May 2026. Over a year away.
I know I need to buy travel insurance as soon as possible. The questions I have are
Do I have to buy multi trip holiday insurance now, and renew with the same company in January 2026 to be covered for this holiday?
Can I buy multi trip insurance now and renew with a different insurer in Jan 2026 and still be covered for the trip in May 2026?
Yes i would prefer multi trip insurance as we have a UK holiday planned.
I hope this question is clear.
Thank you for your help,

Danceloudly - love the name - I think this is one where you need to phone a couple of reliable insurers and ask their advice first.Staysure will do Single Trip 24mts in advance.
- New Single Trip policies can be purchased up to 24 months in advance of your start date. Cancellation cover with Single Trip policies starts from the moment you buy your policy.
I wonder if it will be more expensive because there is more that could go wrong that far in advance but only asking will find out.If you find that you need a single trip for your big holiday and a seperate single trip for the UK one it could work out ok. You don't need medical or repatriation. You may find your personal items are covered by your home insurance so you can whittle a lot of stuff down.
I can rise and shine - just not at the same time!
