Cat N Query
My car was stolen, recovered and had to have some repairs done. It went to my insurers approved repairer and they’ve had for 3 weeks. I’ve just been told it’s repaired and ready to collect. I don’t want to keep the car so I was just checking that I had all paperwork etc to sell it including a full vehicle check from vehiclescore.co.uk. It came back saying it had some insurance query which when I paid for the full check showed it was a Cat N. I’ve checked this and that means it was an insurance write off. This is the first I’ve heard of this, it’s never been written off, my insurer authorised the repairs and as I said I’m supposed to be collecting it tomorrow. Can this be a mistake? Can my insurance log my car as a write off even though I’ve only ever been told it’s had some scratches fixed and a new door. I thought a write meant that the insurance company would have offered me a payout which they haven’t. I am going to speak to them tomorrow but I’ve only just looked now and won’t be able to sleep tonight worrying that I’m left with a car I can’t sell as it’s got this cat n status.

They can't write it off & repair it, it's one or the other.
Either the Cat N is incorrect, or it's been written-off before.

Suggests written off before, you could do a car check on it. But first talk to your insurer in case their has been a clerical error.0
