Hi,
I am attempting to find and download historical data for some common indexes.
This data appears to be behind pay walls.
Anybody able to point me to the most cost efficient method of downloading this data?
Thanks,
Dan

https://markets.ft.com/data has filterable daily data for historical index values, without having to pass a paywall.0

Gilt total return indices from 1998 and price indices from 1975 at https://www.escoe.ac.uk/research/historical-data/fiscal-data/ (scroll down to British Government Securities Database)
Stock market returns (for various countries including UK going back to 1870) at https://www.macrohistory.net/ Doesn't include ready made international indices (although they can be constructed from the raw data).
