Crypto Trading sites
I was wondering if someone could explain the crypto trading sites and the differences between them when it comes to value you get from each platform.
There seems to be a clear difference between these sites that all have the same %age fees.
For example, I have signed up to 3 different platforms and have noticed that for the same money, you get different volume of the same crypto. For example, for £500, I was given 178 xrp on etoro but only 170 on kraken. I checked within the same minute. In fact, kraken always seems to give less, and when the price changes, it is slower to adjust.
Does anyone have a similar experience or has any recommendations on which platform is best to use?

I have no interest in crypto as I am not a gambler. One suggestion I would make if you want to get involved with it is to make any payments or from crypto trading from a secondary bank account - do not use you main account.2

Like with many things, I wouldn't say there is a 'best' platform. Its really down to your circumstances and how you intend to invest/hold your crypto.
Remember that transaction fees that mean that you end up buying more crypto on one platform than on another, but you might get a better price (at any given point in time) with one platform to another.
Personally, I've purchased crypto on Kraken and transferred it to a cold storage wallet. Worked fine for me and found the costs/price acceptable, albeit I didn't do in-depth research as I was always going to store the coins in a cold wallet (ie off exchange) anyway.

Yeah, I’ve noticed similar gaps when trading between platforms. I used Binance and Coinbase for a while, and even with identical fees, the execution price and slippage made the actual amount of coins received slightly different. Sometimes it's down to how quickly each platform updates order books or the spread between buy/sell prices. Kraken does tend to lag a bit in my experience too, especially during high volume times. I ended up favoring the ones with better real-time adjustments, even if their interface wasn't as slick. If you're working with tokens on Solana, especially newer ones, I’ve seen better results using tools that support trading volume growth in native DEXs. One example is this PumpSwap volume bot from https://solana-volume.com/pumpswap that helps tokens gain visibility through volume boosts. It's worth looking into if you’re exploring smaller token trading on Solana.0

I always though of eToro as having the worst retail spreads. But then it could depend on what exchange/platform/app you're comparing it to, and if it's CFDs you're buying or on-chain assets from an order book.
What the others said basically, for £500, just pick the platform you find easiest to use or has the easiest method for you to deposit fiat.
I personally wouldn't use Revolut for anything major in size, but RevolutX is fast and cheap0 -
<!--td {border: 1px solid #cccccc;}br {mso-data-placement:same-cell;}-->Yes this is common. Even if the fees look the same, the real difference usually comes from spread and liquidity. Some platforms just have a wider gap between buy and sell price, so you end up getting a bit less crypto for the same money. It can also depend on how fast their prices update.
I noticed this too when comparing a few apps side by side. What helped me was checking the actual market price on a separate chart and then seeing how far off the platform price was before buying. Sometimes that difference matters more than the fee.-1
