Hello all, it's wet again here. Not much going on today except another visit to the pharmacy to hopefully collect the owing meds. Tea maybe a omelette to use up some bits and some of the load of eggs I seem to have acquired. I'll try to finish my book too but it's really hard going. Sorry for the short post but I'm having trouble using my hands this morning.
Redruby I too hope you get some money today.
Gers hope the TV man sorts it out quickly.
Take care all, hugs to everyone.

Failure is simply the opportunity to begin again, but this time more intelligently12 -
Good morning
Thank you for the start @Gers
It's torrential rain here, so definitely not going out.
Just realised I picked up hot and spicy chicken fillets by mistake, is there a way to take the heat out of them? Grateful for any suggestions.
Monthly account for electricity and gas and I'm still nearly a £100 in credit, pleased with that.
Take careIf you walk at night no-one will see you cry.12 -
Morning all. It's dull again with light showers set in for the day but not windy. It's what I call a "nothing" day though I'm thankful we haven't got storms or flooding, unlike some poor souls. Tomorrow and Thursday are looking promising with sunshine on the cards.
Yesterday was a so-so day, just normal housework punctuated by meals, hot drinks and some admin. I unsubscribed from emails from a few companies that I've sometimes ordered from in the past but no longer use. That should keep the inbox a bit clearer! I'm still waiting to hear about my Pension Credit application - 9 weeks since I applied - so I can set up my spreadsheet for the next financial year. It would be nice to know one way or the other before the bills start rolling in.
Gers - Good work from your bank, I hope your new card arrives soon.
Nanny - I'm sorry to hear your Dad's behaviour is so erratic. It's very upsetting for you when you're trying to do your best. Rant away here all you like.
Camelot - I remember those boring training days all too well! And they always seem to come when you really need to be getting on with something else.
Ruby - If Rob's mum is likely to be in hospital for some time, perhaps you could have a word with Rob's SW about the money situation?
Right, let's see what exciting things I can do today.Take care all and let's plod on as best we can. Healing thoughts for the Poodles and hugs where needed or wanted. X
Be kind to others and to yourself too.12 -
Moring! It's just horribe out there, rainy, dark and windy. I am very firmly staying in today. And just as firmly doing very little. I'm not even dressed yet which should give you some idea of how little little actually is
I will light the fire in a bit, it's quite nippy and probably do a third coat under the stairs in a bit. I underestimated the coverage of white paint. Supper was made last night, chilli, and there's rice in the fridge to heat to go with it, so not much to do there either. Breakfast was boiled eggs after someone mentioned them
Oops, got distracted again...And I am now officially retired, so I can stop acting like I'm phoning in sick and feeling like people think I'm taking the mick. I don't know if it's the same for other people but in my old job, if I was sick, I always felt guilty and as if I wasn't believed when I was actually sick. I think sometimes that worry used to make me worse.
SO, I don't think you can unspice them short of removing the coating and adding new breadcrumbs but you can have something based on milk to temper the heat, so sour cream, greek yoghurt, creme fraiche, that sort of thing. Yorkslass, yep, it's one of them nothing days for me toocamelot, I remember them, i did them for about 25 years, nothing much changes though except for the CPR stuff. And my ability to get off and on the floor
Coxy, have fun at the allotment! Ruby, I had the same thought about how was able to access actual cash. Chris, I regularly get told where I used to work is getting worse, I think it's a thing
glad we're all out of there still though! Nanny, can you use audible or something? I don't know if your library does talking books but sometimes it' quite nice ot be read to. If you can avoid falling asleep
Izzy, your boys being a group of locusts was a funny movie in my head
Right, I'm off, take care all, poodles assemble!

Morning everyone just got in from a cleaning job it’s so dark no wonder everybody is fed up it’s chilly and damp but we are promised a couple of brighter days let’s hope so . Hubby did a good job of getting the hosepipe out yesterday and cleaning all the windows and paintwork and paths everything is so dirty but it looks so much better he keeps reminding me what he’s done I haven’t made him a medal yet . We are having jacket potatoes tonight and something I don’t know what yet I have taken mince out to defrost I will do shepherds pie tomorrow one to eat and one to freeze for another day . Gers it made me think yesterday what you said about your dad you have to remember they are still been a parent my dad died 7 years ago he was 100 and in good health lived on his own and went for a decent walk everyday and had a good social life but he was a stickler about how things had to be done he was always saying I moved his furniture around and not putting things back in the right place he was always adjusting his chair even though I used to check it was in the same grooves and he used to call us some strange names but if he spoke to anyone else he always said I don’t need anybody to help me I have 5 good daughters but would think nothing of giving you a tap with his walking stick to keep us in check this was the walking stick he didn’t need but only used in case he bumped into a doctor in the street who he couldn’t be done with giving him grief for not using it he hardly saw a doctor his whole life but I was lucky I know family can be hard work my mother in law who I got on great with had us round the bend and back again in her final couple of years she was hard work but then again I don’t know what I’m going to be like not that it bothers any of my lot they have said they are just going to shoot me . Thinking of all the poorlies hugs to those that need them have a good day everyone whatever you are doing9

My Dad wouldn't let the GP in. GP would phone me (I lived 180 miles away at the time) and I'd phone Dad and 'threaten' him with the police if he didn't open the door! He wouldn't take painkillers (for pancreatic cancer) because he didn't want to 'become a junkie' so we arrange for morphine patches which needed changed every three days. I think, with him, it was his Army discipline and training - be self sufficient and do things properly. Wonderful and annoying at the same time.
The TC dish man has been, the dish had been turned almost right round to face the house. He'll come back another day to put a new dish and bracket as mine are rusting, they've been up for nearly 11 years and take the full force of the south west wind, straight off the sea.@Ruby - I hope that Rob brought some money for you and him.

Gers I blame the army training for my dad as well7

SO, can you wipe off the coating on your spicy chicken, or peel off if it's crumbed? As Taff says, milk, cream or natural yogurt will cool it, if you could make a creamy sauce.7
-
SO I did exactly the same a couple of years ago, bought peri peri chicken by mistake. Too spicy for us, so I rinsed off as much coating as I could, then cooked it in a korma sauce which worked ok.6
