Tech stock share price falls

Options
Large drops in tech stocks yesterday due to the release of a free Chinese AI app and the they claim it runs (no need for advanced chips and huge data storage).

Wonder how many people will moan about drops to pension funds?

Unless you are heavily invested in tech it has been a 1-2% drop for a well spread portfolio, hardly a big drop in the bigger context of a pension fund.

Also the no need for advanced chips is not correct. The company stock piled 10s of thousands of high end Nvidea chips before they got banned for sale in China and complimented that with the midrange Nvidea gpu's they are still allowed to buy.

It is a great sign you can do good things with less but it's not what the pressure have sensationalised it to be.

At least people who follow their pensions / investments will understand the impact that one company (in reality 7 companies) will influence even a diversified global index tracker due to their (dis)proportionate sizes. And how much a tech crash, or even the hit of 1 company like yesterday will affect them.

Of course these are the people who watch their pensions regularly. Anyone who checks yearly will probably still be plesantly surprised with the 12 month perfomance, and Apple and Meta made small gains which helped offset the overall hit.

Even someone who was 100% invested in Nvidia will still have seen 12 month returns of 100% over the last 12 months even after yesterday!  :o

    • The poor only have expenses.
    • The middle class buy liabilities they think are assets.

£400 down but company shares £700 up and DB unaffected. Thank you for your concern.  :D

I wasn't going to look again until the end of March but I've just had a peek, it looks like it has dropped 2% since yesterday but still nearly 20% up on my projection for the end of March.

My pension pot has dropped by £1500, but it has seen growth of nearly £28k in the last 12 months.

Bit annoying, looks like recovery will be complete before the monthly investment goes in on Monday.
