Also remember that there will be lots of maturity instructions for the same date from other investors too......under construction.... COVID is a [discontinued] scam0 -
From past experience with Chelsea, you can send the letter/passbook at any time, from weeks/months in advance to a few working days in advance, giving explicit instructions regarding the date on which you wish the transaction to take place.
I have never used Recorded/Special Delivery when returning passbooks to Chelsea but you may feel that it offers you a level of security.0 -
Well I've got a Chelsea bond maturing 24th March and another 8th April. For the 8th April one they've offered me the PostSaver Advantage at 0.40 net(!)and nothing for the 24th March one. When I rang them up to ask they said they were still deciding follow on bond rates so I'm not holding out much hope for anything reasonable.
40.00 Tax Free Cashback + 3.6% One Year Fix, covered by UK Compensation scheme up to 50000
http://www.quidco.com/firstsave/
I applied last night via Quidco, payment is made by direct debit on a date stated by the customer after Firstsave have done appropriate checks and set up DD etc. First available date for funds to be taken by direct debit was 24th March, I picked 31 March so as to be certain I have cleared funds.
Worth sticking 1000.00 in, IMO for the 40.00 cashback + 3.6 One year rate.
Clear cookies before going to Quidco to be on safe side if anyone does it.
Now back to Chelsea BS, if it matures on 24th March,am I correct that withdrawal can be made on 24th March or does maturity interest get added at midnight on 24th March ?????????0 -
Nice one blf. A rare windfall in these troubled times

While Firstsave offer appears to be only available via Quidco, there are other Cashback Sites which operate on a similar basis, whilst some dont charge an annial fee personally I use many of them and believe important thing is whats made net from each of them. Topcashback, Cashback Kings and Getpoundsback are the better ones along with Quidco.
HMRC views such Cashback payments as rewards as opposed to earnings and therefore are not liable for Income Tax, exception being referral payment bonuses.0 -
