Car insurance false accident claim help.

I'm getting no where with a claim against me That me or my car was not involved in.
The alleged date was 1st August 2024 but for some reason took them until mid October to claim.
I got a letter saying I was at fault only giving the registration number no place or further details and had to respond in 10 days or claim would be settled.
I received the letter 2 November which was the 10 days later so panicked all weekend.
When I spoke to them on the Monday I was told they had only received it 2 weeks previous and where it supposedly took place and the name of driver which clearly wasn't me.
At this point I can not understand why the accident marker was not removed on my policy.
I Spoke to them again 11th December they had more information as to damage and a witness statement that said it was a large man wearing a Hi Viz... Again confirming it wasn't me.. he said they just have to wait for the people claiming to get back. Again my insurance is for myself only so why was the marker still left there.
Now my insurance is due for renewal I'm being penalised for something I didn't do.
My car has never been to the place of the accident and has not done enough miles to get to the site if the accident between march where I have a photo of speedo and mid November when it went for mot.
I really fail to see why any one would wait 10 weeks to claim
Any suggestions what I can do

It sounds like your plates have been cloned.
It is increasingly common especially following introduction of ULEZ.1 -
There has been nothing further to suggest cloned plates I would have expected speeding or parking fines if it was cloned, it's either a scam or incorrect reg no.Alderbank said:It sounds like your plates have been cloned.

So unfair I'm being penalised for something I haven't done.

Most likely cause is somebody misreading the number plate. Easily done in the even of a genuine collision.

Hopefully this is the reason, previous calls to insurance really don't seem interested that it wasn't me or my car.TELLIT01 said:Most likely cause is somebody misreading the number plate. Easily done in the even of a genuine collision.
I spoke to them again yesterday and the guy I spoke to was really good said he thinks the witness statement isn't brilliant handwriting and thinks a Y has been mistaken for an X
Doesn't help my current renewal which isn't such a big deal currently, But in the next 5 years it could be not to mention the no claims being affected.
I really don't understand how my mileage isn't proof enough they still don't want me to send that.0
