Duplicate insurance
redecraft

I don't know how many people fall foul of this, but I've ended up having two car insurances at once.
Pre-Christmas I was trying to sort out home insurance and car insurance for me and my wife.
Partly thanks to "confused.com" I looked at lots of options, and find I've taken out two insurances for my car. Less than a month into the insurance, the cancellation fees seem ridiculous - 50% of the annual cost, Is there anything I can do to mitigate this?

With cheap insurance policies you get ripped off when you need to make changes etc. It's similar with cheap flights etc.
I never use comparison sites - instead I manually check a handful of insurance companies such as Directline, LV, Aviva, NFU Mutual. I would only switch insurance company if I'm unhappy with my current company or I cannot negotiate a competitive price with them.1 -
Part of the problem is we're always being encouraged to keep switching. For those of us prone to occasional senior moments, there is a risk of forgetting where we are in the convoluted processes...0

How are you paying for the insurance. If monthly then you have taken out a loan to pay.redecraft said:I don't know how many people fall foul of this, but I've ended up having two car insurances at once.

Could try calling the one you want to dump & explain that this is a duplicate policy & they may just waive the fee, as it would get them off the hook should something happen & a claim is made.Life in the slow lane1 -
I am paying monthly - I forgot about the loan aspect. I did try negotiating, but they weren't helpful!
Maybe I didn't phrase it right...!0
