would I be right to go bankrupt

Options
I have 2 cerdit cards with the balance of £16k between and next £3k phone bill £800 (was initially only 120). I had to give up my job recently as I was suffering from depression still am. I live at my mothers now with my kids as my last home was constantly being broken into. I have no savings no car and I am now on benefits. I have tried to budget and pay these debts but its never ending well so it seems. I am seriously thinking about bankruptcy.

Im also thinking of moving to Ireland in the summer to live with my sister how would this affect me if I was bankrupt in the uk?

Any help would be really appreciated.

Your first port of call should be to contact one of the Debt Charities; see links below. Their services are free; they have no vested interest to serve; their advisors are professionally trained and the advice they give will be objective and in your best interests only. CCCS operate a system of telephone appointments that are designed to be flexible and don’t require you to attend an office based interview. At the CAB you will need to make an appointment with a specialist Financial Advisor; other advisors may not have the specialist knowledge you’ll need.

I've found that the debt charities have little knowledge about living abroad after UK bankruptcy. Would you be eligible for benefits if you moved to Ireland?

Madmouse I have asked permission from Richard to use this.

Richard, you didn't say but I will be quite happy to add the credit on the end. My apologies for forgetting to do this.

    Hi tigerfeet,

I wouldn't want you to do that at all. It's all about getting the right message over to people who come to this site. I've copied other people's posts on specific subjects when they've been comprehensive and said what I wanted to say.

    Regards

    Richard

Tigerfeet as your aware things have been a little "heated" with various posts in the past, i've stayed away since the last blow up & plan to continue doing so, things are not like they used to be around here when I started for sure everything now seems a little one sided, I think (correct me if i'm wrong) that madmouse was attempting a Joke, I myself have used various peoples quotes from around boards with their permissions as rich said its about sharing & getting the right message across....just because people come across as trying to troll dont always mean they are after causing trouble...it seemed to me an attempt at some much needed humor that once again has gone very badly wrong
