Types of Disability is there a difference in law?

Some medical conditions are automatically a disability for employment law purposes even if they are (currently) having no affect on the employee's ability to work normally. For example any diagnosis of cancer.MattMattMattUK said:
The law relating to employment is not based on the type of disability or it's source, it only cares about capability/capacity.Dancingcrocodile said:Wasn’t sure how to word the title
In the disability law is there a different between a medical disability and a non medical like learning disabilities. And how the way work can make or not make accommodations for these two different areas of disabilities?Thank you
However, it is something of a moot point as the employer only has to consider reasonable adjustments if they are both requested and needed.0 -
I am not sure I entirely understand the OP's question but, yes, I think there are different types of disability though in all cases the employment requirement is for the consideration of "reasonable adjustments". That can mean different adjustments in response to different disabilities that may present.0

Work. It really upset me and confused me. So I’m trying to work what it means. Spoke to friends and they didn’t know. And said speak to the union. As it’s the weekend I’m been in a real panic. There are so many variations on this theme, but it depends on the job requirements and the disability, specifically if reasonable adjustments can be made to enable the employee to meet the needs of the job.Sometimes that just isn't possible, but that doesn't mean that the employee has been discriminated against. For example, someone registered as legally blind couldn't be employed as a driver.1
