Help! Rac breakdown/hire car

Hi, has anyone had a hire car longer than 3 days they say for onward travel.

My car broke down on Tuesday this week 5pm Rac didn't come out until 10pm next morning, I had to organise a hotel at my cost as they kept on moving goalposts and I got sick of waiting in the cold.

Issue is Rac have used a 3rd party to recover my car as part of onward policy i have and said it would be delivered today but when I've called them yesterday to confirm they've said it will now be Tuesday. Leaving me car less unless I pay for an extra hire car which I shouldn't have to. It shouldn't take a week to get my car back to me so I can fix it!!

I called Rac yesterday to query and low and behold no one has gotten back to me as they are not the greatest company to deal with communication wise.

Any body had any expirience with this?

Thanks

Not your main query I realise, but ...
A few years back, when one of the big agencies (AA or RAC) were unable to recover me on the day I broke down (it was a BH weekend), they let me claim back my overnight hotel costs. Have you asked the RAC about this?

Hi thanks for the reply, tbh on the Tuesday when I broke down they changed the goal posts from a 9pm call out which was 4 hours to then 3.30am in the morning weds which was unacceptable, I said I'd get a hotel and they wouldn't agree until there guy had looked at the car which I said I knew it wouldn't run.

So I said I'd book a hotel thinking they would reimburse me to which they said no. 7 days for a recovery is massively excessive in my opinion. Considering it's only a 60 mile journey from a to b.

Im going to have to give them a call as why would they give me a car until the Saturday when the car was due to be delivered today as when they say the policy is only 3 days? If they refuse and i pay would i be able to take them to small claims to recover the costs is where I'm unsure.

Of course you can take them to court. Only the judge can say whether you'd win.

Years back we had a car from the RAC when the car I was in decided to throw an oil pump..  We were on the way to a long weekend away.

We just paid the extra day when returning the car, probably worth letting them know you will be keeping the car an extra day so they know
    when its coming back.
