Notified Halifax not offering to renew Home Insurance

Have received letter from Halifax stating they would not be offering to renew home insurance due middle of next month. No reason given. Have had policy with them for a number of years and am claim free for 10+ years.

When i called the number on the letter and finally got through tot someone at 3rd attempt the person had to go away and try to find out why had received this. After some time came back and said was because underwriters cover renewal quote would be above the maximum policy level they insure.

We have a normal house and are not in a high risk crime or flooding area. When I pushed them to tell me the maximum policy level was I was told it was more than 50% higher than the premium paid for the current year.

Is this something that is now a new normal?

Are Halifax just seeking to reduce customers?

Any other thoughts?
