The first is the DMP, a lot of people find them a struggle at some point, but they do genuinely work. Is yours self managed, through a charity or through a company that charges you?
The second is your employment, apply for the better job, unless it is in certain areas of employment (eg. Financial services) they will not care about your DMP, if you can earn more that will help.
The third is you wanting to spend money on dental work. If it is required then the NHS will almost certainly do it, so is it actually essential or just something you want rather than need? If the former then it can wait, if the latter then push back against thr NHS dentist.2 -

The first two points are good advice.
On dentistry: sadly, many essential treatments are excluded from NHS coverage. Perhaps the simplest solution is to find a dental school nearby: you can be treated free of charge there, in return for making yourself available for dental students to gain practical experience. (The students are supervised by the very senior dentists who teach them, who will take over and do anything too difficult for the students. They will also provide expert advice on anything that may be necessary but cannot be done there.)

Can you say who the DMP is with, how much you are paying a month and list the debts in it? There are ways to speed up DMPs.2

Please check whether you mean a dental school or a dental hospital.
I live in an area where there is virtually no NHS dentistry and so a desperate shortage of affordable dental treatment. However, the dental school operates for the benefit of students and so there is no referral system (students need practice on the simple things that ordinary dentists can do). Yes, there is usually a waiting list and each person will only be seen for one course of treatment.

My apologies, I meant dental hospital, however, they do have students there who need to practice on people so I think there is certainly that training element as well.
however, I do wonder what the OP‘s “essential“ treatment is because I would expect anything essential to be covered in the students training. All shall be well, and all shall be well, and all manner of things shall be well.

its for a root canal on my second molar, my nhs denitst has been awful. I've been going with pain in this tooth for the past couple of years and always been told nothing is wrong with it. Got an abscess last oct to be told they wont fix it just pull it but it is avabale so they will refer me to their private dentist for a charge, they never did the referral. Got an appointment with another dentist who tried to do it but couldnt and wants to refer me to a specialist endodontist i have asked him to refer me to the dental hospital which he has done but he said this could take months and they might not accept me.
I'm also trying to get a better job, i had an interview last week but didnt get it just doing another application now so fingers crossed.
my DMP is through payplan they've been really good but i felt i rushed in and dint consider the consequences but then also i dind know what else to do and needed help. I just want to get out of debt as fast as i can and not worry and feel stressed. I know its all my own mess but i just want to fix it.
I'm also thinking of writing to some of my more recent loans and credit cards as i think i shouldt have been given them as i had bad credit and was already struggling so it was unaffordable0 -
The debts in your DMP are all non priority, non essential debts, and if your circumstances change, and something else becomes a priority payment, meaning the DMP becomes unaffordable, then it can just be stopped.
Nothing will happen if you don`t pay, writing to your creditors and explaining your situation will help enormously, and stop collection activity from re-starting, you need to be in charge of this, and dictate how events progress going forward, get your self sorted, don`t fret about the debts.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the Debt free wannabe, Credit file and ratings, and Bankruptcy and living with it boards. If you can`t afford payments now, taking legal action won`t change that, tell them why you are no longer paying, they will understand and put a hold on your accounts.
Anyone that writes chasing the debts, tell them the same thing, that`s all you have to do, these are all non priority debts.
How much do you owe?
