Morning everyone well it’s calm but cold and damp we were lucky our electricity was only off for a hour but some are still off a lot of roads closed with fallen trees and a lot of damage to roofs cars and fences we are counting our blessings. Good to meet you Random one we are a friendly bunch. I won’t be leaving the house today I had enough yesterday battling the wind to get back home it will be a day of housework and cooking. Thinking of all the poorlies hugs to those that need them have a good day everyone whatever you are doing12

Morning everyone
The wind has dropped at last...now we just have 'normal' wind. My shed survived - I'm planning on replacing it soon, but not till springtime.
I hope no one had too much damage or long power cuts.
I have an appointment to get my hair cut and coloured this afternoon...I can't say I'm looking forward to it ....I haven't had it coloured in a salon for years, mainly because it takes so long and I really don't enjoy it! Never mind I'll take a book and hopefully it will turn out looking better than when I do it myself.
Still busy sorting out clothes for my charity shop collection so I'll carry on with that this morning.
Nice to meet you Random one.
Right I'm going to get on...hope everyone has a good day x11 -
Morning all. Bright and sunny here this morning but yesterday was extremely windy.
I don't think I went out of the house yesterday but spent my time catching up with a couple of tv programmes plus making a lemon meringue cake (which doesn't involve cake at all!) ready to take to a party tonight. There will be about 24 of us and we all take food to share. After lunch I'll do a beef and butternut squash casserole, using the last of my 3 home grown bns. I've told people they'll have to eat it respectfully!
I hope everyone has survived the storm without too many mishaps.11 -

Morning all and Hi, to @RandomOne. Also to @arielgirl.
I hope everyone weathered the storm without too much damage. We seemed to get off fairly lightly but it's a good job our communal bins are corralled together in a fenced off area. I haven't ventured out yet but might do later for a walk as it's a calm and bright sunny day - you wouldn't think Eowyn had visited at all! DS had a work meeting in Durham yesterday that couldn't be avoided and it took him a lot longer than usual to drive home, thanks to the many diversions because of fallen trees.
Nothing in particular planned for today, it's the same old, same old. I've pulled out a tub of chicken madras from the freezer for tea tonight that I'll have with a jacket potato and some cooked beef slices in gravy for tomorrow. In fact, the freezer will be providing all this week's meals, one of which will be a chilli that I'll make in the SC today. The only other thing I really want to do over the weekend is to sew up a jumper that I've knitted. Not my favourite task, but needs must.
Enjoy your day whatever you have planned and take care. XBe kind to others and to yourself too.10 -
Morning all
Its a lovely sunny day here but feels very cold and another storm due tomorrow apparently 😳 I hope everyone is safe, has anyone heard from Gers ?Yesterday was spent in another blur of phone calls and emails regarding Rob they have asked me to attend a meeting next week with new overnight carers to explain what kind of support he will need, I am also having him extra hours this week again so another busy week ahead, I am going to have a lazy day today as it feels like I’ve not stopped all week.
We did not manage to get any burrata yesterday so I am going to M &S to get some today as I really fancy some now, I will get some nice tomatoes and crusty bread and some sliced meat and that will be our dinner tonight, I will get some basil for OH and DD I can’t stand the stuff it makes me very sick when I eat it 🤢
I have put a wash on this morning and need to have a quick tidy then this afternoon I intend to have a long hot bath and hopefully a film on the sofa with the fire roaring.
Have good days all and take care xx10 -
Morning all, my techie has been playing putting a new virus programme on my laptop and somehow changed my password then couldn't remember to what 🙄 so I'm late posting. We have new passwords for everything since he had a problem with his bank.
Yesterday I got a couple of household chores done so I hope to tick off a couple more today. I tried to book an x-ray but it's now a walk in service so I'll go early one day next week. It's in the local hospital at the edge of the village so not far.
Today I'm going to make a casserole in the slow cooker and because I found a tin of raspberries coming up to date, I'll do them in jelly for pudding with ice cream, tea sorted.
I hope everyone is ok after the storm and has little or no damage to property.
Random one welcome, looking forward to getting to know you.
Take care all, enjoy the day and hugs to the poorly one, sad or lonely.
nan xxFailure is simply the opportunity to begin again, but this time more intelligently11 -
It's a lovely sunny day here so we went for a walk along the coast then called at the greengrocers before getting the bus home. I plan to spend the rest of the day knitting and trying not to eat the shortbread we were given for Christmas!9

Good evening all as I creep into Saturday's by the skin if my teeth.
A strange day. Got a RTC chicken in the local mini shop which meant a change of menu plan as I had mince defrosted. Bit of batch cooking as a result - 1 lemon roast chuck ( some put in the freezer) and a cottage pie ,which was the original intention, all portioned up and froze. Cleared more dead ivy off the outside walls ready for painting later in the year.
Been feeling a bit down tonight - nothing unusual there though. Just watched James Taylor and Carole King concert on BBC2 which brought back some memories of a mispent yoof!.
Hope all our northern friends have survived the storms ok. Just girding up for the next lot in a few days time. It's relentless this year.
Hugs and sppons as always
