Ebay dispute

I'm a private seller, I sell loads of used and to be honest at least half of it is broken things, all my listings have 5-15 photos and are always described accurately, what you see is what you get. I also don't accept returns.
last week I had a buyer message about one of my items they bought asking for a return on a £5 item, saying it was not fit for purpose? I had to ask what thy meant by that and eventually they said it's not compatible with their existing stuff. I replied with "it says in the listing it works with xxx, are you sure you are trying to fit this into xxx?
them: no we (incorrectly) assumed they would fit all similar items
Me: but they only fit into xxx items, it clearly says that in the listing. can you send a picture to explain the problem(this would clearly identify the problem)
them: I can't send a picture, but i'm trying to fit them into the same as this item number 12345 (which is clearly the same as what my listing says they fit into)
me: unless you provide a picture I can't help
them: THEY DONT FIT
Me: going to close this return, I don't believe you are trying to fit them into the correct item they are designed for, and I don't have to accept returns unless they are not as described
as I was doing that I did think "is this worth it for a £5 item which I didn't even pay for anyway? but I don't believe I've done anything wrong
an hour later I check ebay and sure enough theres a negative feedback, all in caps lock, a rant about my terrible customer service and refusing to accept a return! also a threat to escalate it to ebay. I wasn't too bothered and I replied to it basically saying "I sent you what was in the listing, it's not my fault you bought the wrong item I don't do returns" and though at least that will pre warn future buyers of my stuff that I don't accept returns so make sure its right before you buy it to stop wasting everyone's time
anyway, less than a day later and the negative feedback has mysteriously gone, and I've heard nothing from ebay and it was 4 days ago now. so I'm thinking once they tried to escalate it somebody at ebay realiesed that it was the buyers mistake and their failure to provide evidence identified them as guilty and they deleted the feedback?
they now how the same item listed on ebay for 20% less than thy paid using my picture and of course slagging me off in the listing.
just wanted to share that story to prove that ebay is not always on the side of the buyer. also I would not really mind accepting a return if they paid for the postage, but theres no way I'm loosing out on 2 lots of postage because people can't read, thats not my fault

That’s great! You never hear about sellers coming out on top on eBay!! Maybe the buyer removed their feedback as they were called out by your reply to their feedback. Or eBay intervened due to the inflammatory language employed by your buyer. Either way it’s a good result well done 👍🏻😊

Problem is that a lot of buyers do not read all of the description or the delivery details.
I make things to order quoting 10 days to make then 2nd class postage.
Amazed how many times I have been contacted 2 days after sale asking if I have posted yet.
The last person who did this, after I explained what was stated in the description that it is made to order, they said they had not read the small print.
There is no small print. Plus the actual expected delivery date is not in the description anyway.0 -
I’ve just had a negative feedback removed from my private account. Buyer said they didn’t like the item, claimed it wasn’t as described but went quiet when I pointed out they were claiming g it should have been something that was not in the title or description anyway, they had just made an incorrect assumption. They persisted that they were unhappy and I just kept telling them to use the eBay returns system and I would refund on safe return, but they ended up saying it wasn’t worth returning.
They left me a negative basically saying item was misrepresented and seller knows it, I used the new feedback removal request tool and feedback was gone in less than an hour.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards. I would not have mentioned that you do not offer refunds/returns. Those in the know will just jump straight to a not as described
dispute instead.
Play their game and state the buyer claimed it did not fit an xyz but then changed their claim to include did not fit another device and
then back again when proven that it does fit.
Tricky bit getting all that into the limited space in the feedback.Censorship Reigns Supreme in Troll City...0 -
