Direct debits for a home with solar power

Options
Martin has a useful guide supplied by Octopus showing the point at which your combined energy bill returns to credit after the winter (roughly early May) My question is, my solar panels will start to provide significant power from March onwards. Is there a graph for a typical home with solar panels. My thought is point you go from owing money with a direct debit scheme will be at least a month earlier.

I don't think there's any such thing as "a typical home with solar panels". Solar PV installations discussed on this forum vary from less than 1kWp to more than 10kWp.
How much electricity do you use in a year? How big is your PV system and how much is it forecast to generate in a year? Do you also have a storage battery?

The simplest answer for your first year is to leave your DD alone and claim back some of the time access once you get to October, which usually the end of the PV season.

I was always on variable DD with Octopus. So when the solar went in the balance was zero. Credit  started building up over Summer, and clocking down over late Autumn and Winter. Balance at the end of December was just over £200. I don't intend paying anything unless I run out of credit.

For me with solar PV, a gas boiler and fixed DD it makes sense to request a refund once the central heating has been switched off. That would be around April.
