Hi all
Thinking of changing my name to ih8technology, ha ha.
I'm fairly new to all things 'smart' and don't understand a lot of the VERY LONG lists of terms and conditions they all seem to have.
My LG television has just updated and produced a long list of various terms and conditions to read through and agree to of about 6 different categories!
As per usual, this just confuses me. Is there anything in particular that I should be focussing on or saying no to, if possible? It says I can change some things in the settings apparently?
Does everyone read through them properly or just tick 'agree' or whatever, in the hope they haven't just signed away some obscure rights hidden in the depths of the small print?

This will almost certainly be a series of app/connectivity updates that opt-in consent and new T&Cs.If you don't use any of the smart apps like iPlayer, YouTube etc then it doesn't really matter what you pick.1

They won't be much different to the previous ones you agreed to before the update.
I don't know anyone (including me) who reads them in their entirety, they just tick 'agree' when setting up the TV.Drinking Rum before 10am makes you

LG have been adding terms and conditions to collect your data, been commented on over the past year or so
on several youtube channels. Ever increasing data collection.
Just wait for the lawsuits to start... The TV was for a Minor and they set it up and the TV companies broke the law
by collecting data from Minors and a Minor could not enter into a contract to agree to the terms etc etc.Censorship Reigns Supreme in Troll City...1 -
Thanks for all the replies@Neil_Jones - I DO use some of the Apps as we don't have an aerial now, just virgin broadband.@RumRat - that's what I thought. It was my son who set it up initially, and he is like that, ha ha.@forgotmyname - it does mention something in one of the different conditions about minors. It is not just the terms of service or whatever it is called, and which you HAVE to agree to in order to be able to use the services. There were also separate ones to agree to, such as third parties, data, voice control, advertisements etc.Another thing was about 'arbitration' and costs involved - where you had to contact them to opt out within 30 days of purchase? All too mind-boggling for me.I wish I could just buy something these days, plug it in, and use it, without having to worry about any issues.I have just bought a smaller version for my bedroom as I need one with a bigger screen.I use a firestick in the current 'dumb' one and am considering just putting the firestick in the new LG one if that is possible, or if it is allowed?0

@wongataa - ha ha, I KNOW it sounds like a stupid question but when scrolling through the t&c's I thought I saw something about only using the LG software etc?I did wonder if I refuse to accept the conditions for the new tv, it would just turn into a 'dumb' tv instead and I could use the firestick in it, ha ha0

Update: I managed to refuse the 'conditions' and set up my firestick to it instead, which is what I preferred. Abit of a faff as it obviously wanted me to 'conform' but I did it okay in the end.Getting the stupid new legs on the tv was trickier!0
