Probate Solicitor

I lost contact with my grandad in 2022 after a move and tried to find but he couldn’t, did report him as a missing person.
it was let slip by someone they had married but I can’t find a record of this and that he was in a care home under a POA or dutyship with her daughter.

He has passed away and no one told us. They ignored our messages to see him. We’re trying to track down a will we knew of but the solicitor handling his estate is not letting us know if they have a will? I suspect they may have done under a statutory will.
Im getting no answers from the solicitor and I’m not sure what to do? I don’t think we can see the will or know if we were are beneficiaries as per previous will.

If you're a beneficiary, you'll be contacted in due course - could well be at least a year or more, given the (lack of) speed with which some wills are progressed/probate obtained.Googling on your question might have been both quicker and easier, if you're only after simple facts rather than opinions!0 -
I am sorry to hear this has happened - reminds me of a programme I heard on the radio, will try to find it - the family lost contact with relative, the new lady in his life tried to marry him but the registrar did not think he had mental capacity to agree to the ceremony - in the end his family found him in a care home after the proprietor updated the electoral register
Re any will - IF he married then the old will is invalid - not sure what you mean by a statutory will ? do you mean he was intestate and then any estate will be according the rules of intestacy0 -
I suspect a statutory will may have been done under his POA. He’s estate was substantial and some of his assets have been moved into joint names 18 months before he died0

You can search the probate registry: once probate has been obtained the contents of the will become public knowledge.Signature removed for peace of mind1
