Where to get best advice for shared ownership?

Hi,
I am trying to help my son, first time buyer, shared ownership, flat in London.
He had had his shared ownership flat for 3 years in May, his leasehold drops to 79years in February.
The housing association are offering him an ‘informal’ extension, but are really slow in responding and not giving exact costs for the service, so he doesn’t know if he can afford to pay and if it is an option for him to pause for now to see what the new legislation brings.
Can he access free legal advice to help him navigate this difficult scenario?

Not much legal advice is free - he can try Citizens Advice or and there is probably some stuff on the .gov.uk website.
Surely if it's shared ownership - then there is no end date?0 -

Seems to be a expensive way whichever way you look at it.0 -
The housing association own 75% of the property, but are saying he needs to pay all of the leasehold extension. This doesn’t seem right, and you would expect the housing association to be trying to help0

We accept that there are always legal fees to pay when it comes to property, but don’t really want to start paying out if this is not the right thing to do right now0
