Ebay - request opened by a buyer. How long do I have to refund it

Hi a buyer has opened a request for a refund.  (I'm a private seller)

Back in the day where there was selling fees, there was a risk that if you waited until ebay 'stepped in' and ruled against you (which they always do) then you lose the selling fees.  The cheapest option therefore was to just refund the buyer.

Now theres no private selling fees, do ebay still charge you a fee if they step in?  If so, I'll stop bothering arguing and just send the refund and close the dispute.

Or do ebay not charge anything to step in any more?

Thanks

also, does anybody know how to find out the date that ebay can step in?  I can't see any deadline by which I need to either refund or wait for ebay.  I know the buyer gets given a date they have to wait by, but how do I find that out as a seller?

I believe it is day 4 that the buyer can get their refund.

I would still refund myself if I couldn’t prove delivery, the seller strike for allowing a case to time out can cause issues for a smaller seller, and a worse case scenario would be that the seller performance dropped and the account was restricted.

The option will change on your screen as well as the buyers to "ask eBay to step in"
