Carers allowance after a death 8 week continuation

Hi folks my mum passed away yesterday after a 10 year battle with dementia with me as her carer for that time in our home. I've had a lot on my mind and have only just thought about carers allowance so I need to cancel that,could anyone tell me if they managed to get the payment to continue after death for 8 weeks or is there a best way to do that as I'm going to need that money as I'm broke.Many thanks

I've very sorry to hear about your Mum. The Carers Allowance should continue automatically provided you remain eligible to claim it (excepting that you no longer need to be caring for the person). You just need to let the Carers Allowance section at the DWP know what has happened.

You might look at the "Tell Us Once" service in case that help you: https://www.gov.uk/after-a-death/organisations-you-need-to-contact-and-tell-us-once  

I would recommend telling the Carers Allowance section yourself though.
