Billing discrepancies

Hello

Advice please. My energy consumption has apparently increased over 200% according to my bills compared to last year with no logical explanation. My energy provider reissued my bills due to a 'technical error'  last year and am now -£1000 instead of being in credit. They sent me a statement of accounts and the kwh usage on there is a lot less than I am being billed for. Shouldn't the statement of accounts be what they're using to draw their figures for my energy consumption?

What do your bills say? What do you mean by statement? Are the figures used to calculate your usage estimates or actual reads? How do you pay?

The statement of accounts was sent from the energy provider documenting how much energy I have used over a period of time. That kwh usage doesn't match what I'm being charged kwh on my bills. EG one month my usage is 376.16kwh but being billed for 927.01kwh which is a huge difference.

Never pay on an estimated bill. Always read and understand your bill

do you have a smart meter or do you send in readings manually. Does the bill match your meter serial number?

Who is your supplier, it seems odd to send bills and statements monthly as you are describing. Can you post screenshots with personal details redacted?

It's OVO. They reissued my bills over a 6 month period due to a 'technical billing error' which put me in a negative balance.  They sent me a statement of accounts so I could see what I was being billed for/what the smart meter had sent them over this period as I couldn't see how I'd used that much extra energy consumption, especially in the summer. When I've calculated every reading, it doesn't tally on a monthly basis with what I've used in kwh and therefore feel I'm not being billed correctly.  Hoping someone might be able to explain what may have happened.

If you can tell us what your meter reads today, and share *all* the merter readings & dates that OVO have used to bill you, we might be able to help you decipher things.

Thank you. They’ve sent me over 100 pages of readings!
