Travel insurance for August 2026?

As above, I'm planning a trip with my husband to a European destination in August 2026, but I'm having some difficulty in finding an insurer who will offer a policy this far in advance. Would a broker be able to find a company to provide this? I know that we can wait until August this year to buy cover, but it's an expensive trip, and as my husband has some health issues (and we're old!) we know that the insurance will also be costly, we need to be able to budget for this. We also have some family issues which may affect our plans (my mum is terminally ill)
We don't have any bank accounts with travel cover, and we last travelled abroad several years ago, so we have no idea of the approximate cost now. We're bracing ourselves!

A broker may be able to help. As it seems necessary these days to book further and further in advance, I'm surprised no insurer has picked up on the business they could potentially get by enabling insurance to be taken out earlier.

its been mentioned previously at the moment how much have you paid or will you pay between now and august 2025?
If its only the deposit that you stand to lose, it may not be worth paying the extra for travel cover
its worth weighing up how much you would be claiming for against the cost of paying extra for travel insurance this far in advance1 -
If your mother is terminally ill (and I am sorry to hear that) then you may find that cover for that is excluded anyway. Many (if not all) policies won't cover illness/death of a relative where their health condition was already known when you take the insurance out.All shall be well, and all shall be well, and all manner of things shall be well.
Pedant alert - it's could have, not could of.1 -

Thank you all for your responses, and @elsien for your kind comment. My mum has been unwell for 4 years, so it would definitely count as a "pre-existing" condition. I'm hoping to pay off most of the holiday cost sooner rather than later, so I guess there would be more to lose, but to be honest, I'm planning on going no matter what life throws at me, and if I wait too much longer to book it, the cost will probably rise considerably, so I'll just have to take a chance, I think."I may be many things but not being indiscreet isn't one of them"0
