One year fix or Two year fix???

Hi there. I’m currently on a dual fuel fix with Octopus until August. It has no exit fees so I can leave at any time. I’m looking at the fix offers and two have caught my attention - the Eon Next 16 month (i.e. next winter) fix, and the EDF 2 year fix (I.e. next 2 winters until end of Feb 2027).

I worked out that either switch would cost me an extra £40 to £50 for the period up to August 2025 when compared to my current fix rates. But then they SHOULD start to save me money if the prices go up as forecast.

It looks like next winter will be more expensive than this winter so I am fairly sold on the idea of fixing to cover that period. But I’m also tempted to fix for winter 26/27 too. The 16 month fix has £100 exit fees, and the 25 month fix has £150 exit fees.

What do you think? Too risky? Or should I stay with Octopus and consider switching to one of their agile/tracker rates instead? What would you do?

Any advice or thoughts would be gratefully received. Thanks!

Thanks. So, not tempted by the fixes being offered at lower rates than the predicted prices for next winter?

I wouldn’t take anything that comes with exit fees, let alone at those penalties. As an aside they are just predictions, a lot could happen , of course usually adversely, but hey Trump will end all wars 🤣
