@-taff your neighbour putting a blanket over his car engine reminded me of when I got my first car in the 70s. My dad, who never drove, suggested I put a blanket over the engine when it was cold at winter so that it would start better, which I did and then started it one morning and and forgot to take the blanket off and had to cut it out of the engine!! A while later it got stolen but it didn't go far as the blanket stopped it going and they abandoned it. Police told me to bring scissors when I picked it up!!! Writing it now the story seems so far fetched but, honestly, it's true!

Morning all. The day started grey and dull again with mist added in to the mix but the sun has now made a welcome appearance.
Yesterday I had a walk to the Co-op for fresh milk and fruit; sadly their fruit didn't look inviting so I passed on that as I have plenty of tins to use in the meantime. Other purchases were a pack of half & half wraps (useful for lunches filled with whatever) and a bottle of Hendersons Relish for stores, both on promotion. I also returned the two books I'd read. Once home, I made a start on cleaning the upstairs windows and will continue with that today. The communal bins have finally been emptied (hallelujah!) and DH's bank has sent me an account closure form to complete so they can release funds. I'll add that to the Friday admin pile.
Tea tonight will be fish fingers, peas and sliced/fried cold potatoes and the last of the Xmas profiteroles for afters.
@remmie - How about using the coconut milk for rice pudding or custard?
@TA - Enjoy your lunch in Skipton.
@RedRuby - Sounds like a busy day! I hope Rob gets to see his mother today.
@AlwaysAllie - The weather station sounds interesting.
@Suffolksue - Fingers crossed the bill isn't as bad as you're expecting.
@-taff - Shame about the kimchi. I'm sure your version will be much better.
@dp1 - So sorry your DD didn't get a better response from the GP.

Afternoon all; bit late here
Have spent the morning helping at the Community Larder. We had a lot more stuff in today, including masses of hummus and butter - which is still in date for a few weeks. I do wonder about some of the ordering systems in the supermarkets sometimesAnyway, we now have the remains of a small selection box to eat up at home, a box of mince pies and chilled puff pastry to make some more! Some carrots and apples have been set aside for the horses and we have green beans to use up.
Just had lunch and then off to Costco for some things to cook for a large gathering on Saturday. I've allocated Friday as a cooking day for that. DH will come as well as he wants to get some petrol.
Keep well and warm everyone10
