i got turned down for Pip

Hi All, i got turned down for pip just before xmas and didnt appeal can i still appeal.
ive got Rheumatoid arthritis and Osteoarthritis in my lower spine as well as type 2 diabete, i got diagnosed with it all at in October time last year.
im really struggling with my feet they are so sore with the arthritis, and my back and legs are getting weaker all the time, i cant get upstairs very well, so sleeping on a reclining arm chair downstairs, wash in the kitchen sink, good days i do go up for a shower but by the end of the day im too sore and tired to go back upstairs so end up back in the arm chair, on my pip letter i received back from them they stated i enjoy walking my dogs for miles i said i cant walk my dogs as i cant walk far so only my husband walks them. i cant stand and do cooking i have to go and sit down half way and go back once rested or get my husband to help. i no longer work my area manager job as i struggled with all the driving and pain afterwards. so i now do some part time admin work for my husband who owes and runs his own busy (chimney sweep). i dont go out unless i really have too. i feel really let down by the pip lady that phoned we was on the phone for over 2 and a half hours. i try to go swimming a few times a week but the water is now too cold and i hurt now from it so thats now stopped. i dont know what to do. im only 40

You can still appeal but you need to have a good reason why you didn't appeal within one month of the decision. It sounds like you are just outside the 1 month, but if you get your appeal in asap it is better than leaving it longer. You can start your appeal online. (See here: Appeal a benefit decision: Submit your appeal - GOV.UK)

Why didn't you appeal within one month? If you explain here, we might be able to help you find what your good reason for appealing late is. It might also help to understand why your husband didn't help you to appeal. Time is of the essence now.
The comments I post are my personal opinion. While I try to check everything is correct before posting, I can and do make mistakes, so always try to check official information sources before relying on my posts.

I don't think it needs to be a "good reason" you just need to give a reason. The first stage to appeal is the Mandatory Reconsideration. If DWP refuse the last request you just proceed to Tribunal.

The appeal letter came in on 24th of December 2024. Dated 28th of November so I had 4 days to appeal and since everything was closed for 2 of them 4 days I didn't think it was worth even trying to appeal. And to be totally honest I was so shocked and upset that they had not listened to a word I said. I just went down hill quickly with my mental health. And sat crying or days. The stress of it brought on a massive flare up of my rheumatoid arthritis. So I didn't really know what to do. Just felt everything at that point in time was pointless.

You say you were diagnosed October last year, I read that as October 24 and you were turned down at Xmas 24, so in threoy you werent entitled to PIP on the 3 months qualifying period.  Not withstanding this are you under any specialist care? Did you provide any supporting documentation?

When you make your mandatory reconsideration. focus on the activities you feel are incorrect, dont dwell on the assessment. Try and keep it factual and use everyday situations or evidance to explain the why you believe the the activity should differ from the assessment.  To do this you will need to look at the activities and the descriptors.

I very much doubt they got an instant diagnosis! They surely will have had the problems longer than the qualifying period.
