Help needed with SCS

Options
Recently I found a tear in my sofa that I have owned since March 2023. The warranty company came out and confirmed a manufacturing fault had caused the issue. Two solutions were given 1)replacing the two seats covers effected and 2) modifying the sofa underneath to stop the issue happening again. I have tried to raise my concerns with the solutions with SCS as I’m worried there will be a colour and appearance difference in the two seats being covered and the rest of the four seater  sofa as I have owned the sofa since 2023 and wanted answers as to why my sofa needs to be modified to stop a manufacturing fault happening again. SCS have ignored emails and recorded letters and am now going to raise issue further. This was a lazy boy sofa which I have since found out SCS have stopped supplying due to manufacturing issues. Any advice would be welcomed as the sofa is my mums and the whole reason we got a recliner was to assist her with her medical needs and support me in helping her on and off the sofa as her carer . Thanks

SCS are permitted one attempt either to repair or replace under the legislation.  If that fails you are entitled to a refund, but SCS will be entitlrd to deduct from any refund an amount of money to reflect your use of the sofa.  After two years that deduction might be as much as 33%.

They've suggested a repair - I think you need to let them attempt that and see if it works.

If you are worried about colour matching, have you suggested that they recover the whole thing rather than just the seat covers?

If they only recover two seats and they don't match, I don't know if that would count as a failed repir justifying rejection by you for a partial refund.
