TUI Fly Drive Car Hire

Hi, I haven't hired a car in USA before and a bit weary to ensure I have the right cover.   I'm looking at a TUI Fly Drive package and upgrading to Gold.  Does this look to have sufficient cover or will I also need to pay extra at the car hire desk when they no doubt try to up sell and tell me I'm not fully covered.  (see link to what is included in Fly Drive)

Appreciate any help

Yes, I think I'm ok with that section.

My main question is:  Is the below sufficient insurance cover, or should I be concerned.  The point about single limit $100,000 might be of concern, as I assume someone could sue me for $0.5m in the US.  The $1m sounds good, but if its only a 1/10th of that for one incident it might not be enough?

What is included in your Alamo Fully Inclusive package?

In addition to Third Party Liability, with the Fully Inclusive package you get:

    • Collision Damage Waiver* (Please note, rentals within New York State are subject to a $100 excess)

    • $1million Liability Coverage (Liability Protection LP) (Up to an aggregate, single limit of $100,000)

    • Uninsured Motorist benefit (Up to an aggregate, single limit of $100,000)

*Collision Damage Waiver (CDW): If you are involved in an accident, CDW relieves you of all responsibility for the collision and covers you for all damage to the car up to its full retail value regardless of fault. Alamo reserves the right to refuse a replacement vehicle to anyone who has had an accident, a breakdown or contravened the law as a result of their negligence.

I don't see any benefit in upgrading to Gold. Additional Drivers obviously aren't free if you are paying for them in the Gold package. Plus pushing you to buy the tank of petrol in advance by pretending they are doing you a favour by being able to return it empty. How can you return on an empty tank? That would be stressful. Better to leave it at the standard Full/Full or return it at whatever level you took it. Avoid Gold. Looks like nonsense.

Better to look at booking direct, rather than with TUI and bear in mind the Liability Coverage has changed in the USA since the beginning of the year.
Look at other providers, such as Hertz and AVIS
