How long for ESA decision

Don't hold your breath on this.

My son was required to complete an ESA50 in respect of his ongoing claim in December 2023. Whilst they continued to pay his basic ESA he heard nothing from DWP until December 24 with an appointment for a telephone interview today 25/1/25.

That was cancelled today and they said that they would send another appointment letter soon.

This sounds like a review rather than a first work capability assessment. Reviews tend to take longer than first time claims and the OP is a first time claim.

Thanks for the replies, I’m now 5 months in and still heard nothing. I’ve called them in the past so don’t see the need to call again, plus if the decide I’m not entitled to esa then my payment would stop so might as well let it go as long as possible.
