Heathrow Airport Disabled Access and Help

I would really like a holiday travelling by taxi to Heathrow Airport then off to east Asia maybe Thailand. Travelling alone

I am dependant on crutches due to being unable to use my ankle. Have a walker boot but still need crutches to get anywhere.

Once the taxi drops me off at the drop off point i will be needing support with luggage.

I have read on the website and it looks like there are communication points where you can call for assistance. Looks easy enough on the website. Does anyone have experience of this and how easy it would be travelling through Heathrow airport alone?

    It's simple

As long as it's booked in long enough in advance, normally via your airline or holiday company.

They will meet you from whatever point in the airport is best for you.

You are normally taken to a dedicated lounge area , if it's anything like Gatwick you are given a pager unit in case you need to leave the lounge .

They will then transport you to the plane and if you request it, to your seat

At T2 Heathrow there's an area where people needing assistance can go to without having booked in advance and you can be put in a wheelchair and someone escorts you from there, through security, on to duty free and to another area where there are golf carts that will take you to your plane.

Don't know about communication points but frankly I'm bold enough that I would ask a complete stranger to get me a luggage trolley if the taxi driver hadn't done that for me.  Not sure how easy it would be for you to push that with your boot or whether you'd need someone to do that for you.

Thank you for the replies. I was getting anxious and its nice to be reassured. I will probably be travelling from Terminal 2 with EVA Airways. My worry was from initially getting dropped off by taxi and having luggage and crutches. I think will need premium economy to get slightly more leg room
