I've been buying poo bags to dispose of my cat's "gifts" (from all exits), but pondering that I could use the bags that my frozen veg comes in if I could seal them once filled (they don't have handles and aren't long enough to tie). Good/bad idea? Any recommendations?

I'm thinking no to a vacuum sealer because it would be sucking all the poopy air into the house?

If they're too small to tie, it may be least messy to have a big bag in the top of the bin and put untied bags into the big bag and then tie that - you could tie it loosely each day.

Thank you @teaselMay, it's a good idea, but it's doubling up on plastic, which is what I'm doing now and trying to reduce.

What about a heat sealer without a vacuum?

Why not use biodegradable poo bags?

If you use a bread bag as the big bag or similar to put your little bags in you're not creating any additional plastic waste, Alternatively use just a big bag and a shovel of some sort to scoop it into it.

I do. But I also have bags from my groceries and while I currently take them to the soft plastic recycling, I suspect that they mostly get incinerated or go to landfill. So re-using them as poo-bags would overall be better I think.

I'm not as I don't own one, but it would seem to be the sort of thing that you're looking for, for your needs

Ah, thank you Emmia, I've not written my original post clearly, I was looking for a recommendation for one of those heat sealers.

I'd personally just read reviews and take a punt on one from Amazon based on that. There are several options available, and they're not overly expensive.

Personally though, I think if you're trying to be "green" I'd be trying to find a solution that doesn't involve any plastic whether that's reused food bags or biodegradable plastic options... Although I appreciate that might be asking for something akin to the moon on a stick.
