Thanks for all the replies. Today I wrote to my MP who has helped in the past as a starting point.

I emailed This Is Money editorial about it, referencing the article and it's author... maybe they'll follow up, maybe they won't... But we are talking about 11yrs of missing NI credits, 5-6 times greater than anyone mentioned in the article.

I'll start a draft letter to HMRC regarding it too... Getting through to the DWP is a nightmare and I know that for a fact... I was trying to contact them for 10 weeks without success, on hold for 45 mins at a time only to have the line go dead each time without ever getting through to anyone. It was the MP who helped with that, as my blue badge had expired and without an updated award letter with the extension end date for my PIP meant I couldn't get a replacement badge.... which left me almost housebound since mid October.

Update, I heard back from my MP quickly, she's written to the DWP to ask what the problem is how they plan to resolve it.

She said If I hadn't heard from the DWP within the next 3 weeks, to contact her again to chase it up.

Fingers crossed.
