Hi.  I've had to move onto UNiversal credit via migration letter and receive it 2nd each month
I was told then told via letter I'd be on esa still
Payment due in bank says Esa but is 20 less every 2 weeks. But no UC, any idea what's going on please. I didn't think esa was still available that why I had to move

Part of your ESA would have been contributions based, this would mean it would revert to New Style ESA automatically and you will receive £276.40/fortnight.
When you submitted the claim for UC 2 weeks later your Income Related ESA would have ended. Your income will be topped up by UC, which will include standard allowance, LCWRA element and any other elements you maybe entitled to.
The ESA will be deducted from your UC at the rate of £598.86/month. Therefore you will receive ESA every fortnight and UC once a month.
What date did you claim UC? First payment for this will be about 5 weeks after you submitted the claim.0 -
So the payment from UC will be about 40 a month?
I put my claim in about 3 weeks ago0 -

I would have no idea as I don't know what other benefits you may have been claiming, such as housing benefit, what was included with your ESA, such as did it include the Severe disability Premium? Are you 25 and over or under 25?Dixielnd said:So the payment from UC will be about 40 a month?

Assuming your ESA didn't include the SDP?
Then your UC will include
standard allowance single person 25+ £393.45/month +
LCWRA element £416,19/month.
Total amount before deductions £809.64 - £598.86 for the ESA.
Total UC payable = £210.78/month.
As well as ESA fortnightly £276.40.
This means you're financially better off by claiming UC than you were when you were just claiming ESA.1 -
            Thanks for explaining 🙂1
