Window ledge fell apart

Any idea on the most cost effective solution to repair this? I really hope we don’t have to replace the whole ledge as this window is brand new and I’d assume it would have to come out.

I've never done this myself, but I don't see why a windowsill cannot be replaced without removing the window. AFAIK, normally a window is fixed and sealed first, then sills are added inside and outside.

It will probably easier to replace it with a uPVC one ( coloured black) .1

Ignoring the aesthetics, its purpose is to protect the wall below from the water leaking down the window so that it drips from sill. In your case, it doesn't have to stick out. if you don't care about the appearance, it can be replaced with a shaped strip of led, going under the window frame and under the sides (with the gaps sealed) and then over the led underneath.1

A builder will be able to swap out the ledge for you, they don't need to remove the window. If it's blown like that the steel inside might be corroded so you'd probably want to replace the whole ledge.

It can be repaired insitu, or replaced. Access adds to the price. Simple job on the ground.0

Stooled cills are normally built in, although some can be fitted later.grumpy_codger said:AFAIK, normally a window is fixed and sealed first, then sills are added inside and outside.1 -
So yes access is a PITA - is it just a case of using wooden batons and cement on top of the rebar that’s showing to do a repair? Would this hold?stuart45 said:It can be repaired insitu, or replaced. Access adds to the price. Simple job on the ground.0 -
Repairs vary on how bad the cill is. Can be the rebar treated and the cill shuttered up and concreted. It might need steel dowels bonded into the concrete. There are specialist firms that do this work as well as general builders. You need to get prices for repair and replacement.1

Thanks - I’ve messaged a window guy to see my uPVC options, will need to try and find someone to give me my concrete replace or repair options. Is there anything I can do just now to minimise more damage? Rebar is exposed now.stuart45 said:Repairs vary on how bad the cill is. Can be the rebar treated and the cill shuttered up and concreted.
