Poss different in Scotland but in England my experience was no CT exemption even after challenging Council. Trust ending on second death at which time second death name removed and property then held in trustees names now as actual legal owners to sell, so no exemption and had to suck this1

Additional point, we did get nil council tax while second person was alive and living in property as they had low income1

Just thought I would update this thread. At the end of January I received a Council Tax Bill which included the 10% unoccupied discount from date of death. Also included was a form asking me to complete it to see if an exemption would apply. I filled in the form noting my brother and I as Trustees and included a letter from our solicitor detailing the Liferent Trust.
i have just been advised today that the exemption was granted and that there is now a credit on Dad’s account as opposed to a bill.
i have to say I’m surprised from what I’ve read and what was given here but I’m not going to argue with them!1
