ESA payment

I claimed UC on friday 10 January, I received ESA the following Wednesday (4 days later). It says ESA continues for 2 weeks, will I receive another ESA payment? Will I receive it on my normal ESA payment date? A different date? Will it be the same amount. I'm confused how to work it out.

Thanks.

Payment date for ESA and many other benefits is based on NI number.  That means the first payment often is for just a few days.  After that it will be on the same day of the week, every 2 weeks.

Yes you will receive further payment on next due date.

You could phone ESA to check. Some who have moved to UC from ESA, have had their ESA claim migrated to New Style ESA. So they have ended up having dual claims UC and New Style ESA running at the same time.

Unfortunately DWP don't appear to be issuing adequate communications, so people are not aware of all information they should know. So a call to ESA will confirm payment and if your ESA claim is closing or being changed to New Style ESA.
The comments I post are personal opinion. Always refer to official information sources before relying on internet forums. If you have a problem with any organisation, enter into their official complaints process at the earliest opportunity, as sometimes complaints have to be started within a certain time frame.

ESA is paid two weeks in arrears, entitlement ended on January 10th.

Payment on 15th January was for ESA up to 1st January.
You are now owed ESA from 2nd to 10th.

*I am fairly sure that is right, but happy to be corrected.

I was on IRESA I don't have enough NI contributions so I'm fairly positive I will not be migrated to New Style ESA and I have never claimed CB/NS ESA.

@KxM.  That sounds about right to me based on how I assume it works. Lots of misinformation online around this run on, some claim you can only receive one more ESA payment and if you claim UC the day before your payment you won't get another one, some say the complete opposite and you won't get it if you claim a day or 2 after recieving it. Very confusing.

You don't need to have the correct NI contributions when migrating to UC from ESA. If part of your ESA was contributions based, this will automatically revert to New Style ESA and be deducted in full from any UC entitlement.

Many people do not realise their ESA was part CB and thought it was all Income Related.
