My comment was intended to be a bit tongue in cheek, but re-reading it I can see there is nothing to indicate this.  Grumpy-chap is quite right and it would not end up well whatever happened.

I guess all the guests might end up being thrown out.

Also, if the hotel recognises what's going on they are liable to cancel the friends AI status - at least as far as drinks are concerned.
I expect that is covered in the hotel's AI T's&C's - might also be reported to Jet2, although I'm not sure they'd want to get involved.
  • OP here, clarifying a few points.

We were undecided about which food package to get as in my couple we are not 'breakfast people' however my partner's firmly against cooking on holiday. I haven’t been abroad in so long I don't even know my preferences. Much of the time will be spent on the beach so it might not be worth the AI cost. His draw was the booze but he does like an independent restaurant and reckons we will eat outside the resort most nights regardless.

The group will not all necessarily move as a unit every day so harmony is not majorly under threat. The only things we will all do collectively is go to the theme park. Other than that the plan is flexible. The original plan was for all to get a villa and self-cater. The with-child couples found more benefit in the resort and AI deal (food, entertainment, etc) so it went with that. Child-free couples can peel off for separate activities and then mix up guy and girl activities.

I do appreciate the comments about getting other people in trouble for sharing their AI drinks and nibbles. I would hate to do that and my partner would also cringe at the thought. I think we'll ask at the front desk on arrival otherwise just stick to self catering and pay less by eating out.

I reckon much of the enjoyment of a mixed party of friends is socialising together at meals thereafter having drinks in the evening.
Isn't that going to be difficult if you are dining separately and are not in the AI group when it comes to ordering a round ?
