Hi
I have been sent a court letter asking for £300! saying i did not respond to the claim form. The letter is dated 10th Jan 2024. I have ignored the letters from DCBL but didnt expect them to file a court claim.
My history is i was fined by Euro Car Parks but i never recieved a letter from ECP about the initial fine but was immediately contacted by a debt collection agency which i ignored. I contacted ECP via email protesting but they responded saying the matter is now out of their hands.
The original fine was for abotu £100 but DCBL have been doing the old trick of adding extra fees and wanted £170 - so i ignored as per advice here.
I need to know what to do in terms of contacting the court and writing a defence - i have looked at the NEWBS pages but its confusing and complicated - I did park at the car park but i am disputing the additonal cost being added by DBCL.
PLease can someone point me to the correct letter template that i can use to send to the courts?

The only relevant thing is whether you received the claim letter from the court. Did you?2

It appears you have a judgment against you for failing to respond to a N1SDT claim form. Ignore is good providing you ignore the dross but not a claim form. You now need to read NEWBIE sticky second post where it talks about set-asides and then complete a N244 form unless there is still time to pay the judgment amount before the deadline. You will need a VERY good reason for failing to respond. N244 application comes with a fee of £303 but with a very well written N244 and, assuming the CCJ is set aside, with a good defence of the underlying claim you might persuade a judge that the PPC should repay that fee.2

The Claim Form was sent to you in December. Did it arrive? Did you think it was just another letter?PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).

This is the most common reason for notices going astray...they've been sent to an old address.0

Thanks for help. DBCL win.The letter is dated 10th Jan 2024.You write that the letter (presumably the CCJ) is date as above; if you paid that, it will be marked as satisfied and will remain on your file preventing you getting credite and decent interest rate for six years. I you meant 2025, then you were in time.
