Brand new 2 seater and 3 seater sofas 10 months ago. Purchased the 5 yr warranty cover with them as we have pets. Not leather but thought was as durable as leather. Damage to settee due to pet and so took pictures and sent to make a claim. Have to admit not happy with what has happened in such a short time of having sofa as other sofas in the past of been much more durable and not accident involving pets.
To be honest I don't know whether to claim on the warranty or do through home insurance.
My ideal outcome would be that they say it can't be repaired and I am offered a replacement. If offered a replacement could I say I am sceptical of it happening again so would ptefer to replace with another style. What are my chances of this being offered?
Would i get a better outcome if claim g on house insure as I do have accidental cover?
Advice please

The warranty won't cover damage caused by pets.
Most home insurance excludes damage caused by pets too but not all.
The third option is a claim under the Consumer Rights Act against the seller that the item isnt sufficiently durable but unless its explicitly advertised as pet proof or suitable for those with pets etc it would likely to be put down to user damage.0 -
You'll probably find that both the sofa warranty and your home insurance excludes damage caused by pets, unless you've taken out some expensive cover that specifically relates to pet damage (which the sofa company wouldn't offer anyway). Any pet damage is not reasonable use or wear and tear. Even though pets on or around sofas is reasonable to you, it is a big risk for companies to claim protection from, hence they don't normally0

What material are they made of and who considered it suitable - you or the salesman?
Do you use any protective covering where the pets go?
