What brands are good for fridge / freezers

We are looking to buy a new fridge freezer, to stand in our kitchen.

I had a look in John Lewis and saw a decent one from LG. Is this brand any good regarding fridge freezers.

There are Bosch models too which look decent enough (£600-£800 range)

I was all set to buy, then a neighbour mentioned Argos .. I see there are several there, only £300 or so, but from some strange brands .. I mean brands we have never used before.

Are there any brands to avoid ?

What are the best brands .. as far as reliability is concerned.

thank you

You will get anecdotal reports of people who once bought x brand and it broke after a year, but then they bought x and it's been great for the last 5.

Buy whatever is large enough and to your tastes.  As with most white goods, it might last a year, it might last 20.

LG have become very good in what they offer the last 8 years or so. Bosch, mixed feelings certainly on power tools, we do have 2004 500mm fridge and freezers made in some ex eastern block still decent but hated the expensive built in cooker we couldnt wait to get rid of.
Samsung may be worth a look at, certainly a lot cheaper.
Electricals as in computers to TV avoid Argos, by the time theyre listed (used ti be 6 months) theyre obsolete, hence you think are cheap. Have a search for actual model numbers with the likes of AO, Currys and Independants, may find a bargain.

My go to brand is Bosch, have Fridge/Freezer, Dishwasher, Washing Machine, Tumble Dryer, Oven and Hob. They have been very reliable.

I too have found Bosch reliable and reasonable value over the years. That said I inherited an AEG fridge freezer that is at least 11 years old now and has been doing fine.
If you have a Euronics store in your vicinity they are independently owned shops in a co-operative type arrangement and stock the main brands.

Have a look at Blomberg. I bought their fridge freezer from Euronics 12 .5 years ago. It is past its best now and I have just ordered a new Blomberg.

I'm looking at what I suspect is the opposite end of the price range (the cheap end) but my current Hotpoint fridge will have been around £200 13.5 years ago. It's still working, staring to run more than it should past few weeks, I'm going to replace when we move or before if it gets worse. Until now the only attention it's needed is a lick of paint a couple of months ago to sort out rust which was I suspect primarily from bleach use on the floor around it. Current similar thing range from 250-400.

Not had personally good experience of Bosch but it wasnt a fridge or freezer.

We bought from Samsung because they had by far the largest capacity for the size of unit, the fridge has had no problems at all in 7 years but we had 3 freezers condemned in the first 3 years and they no longer make the finish of ours.

Given free choice and enough budget I would probably go for Liebherr. Whilst Miele deny it these days their standard range certainly used to be made by then with just a few styling tweaks and a £300 uplift on the price (Miele Mastercool arent made by them but then they start at £10k)
