Smart Parking - POPLA appeal unsuccessful

Hi all,
And before you slate me, I didn't realised this forum existed, hindsight and all that. I'm now signed up and know for future issues.
I had a parking ticket issued by Smart parking, because I paid for my parking at Zipworld, online, after I'd left, (due to my phone battery dying, didn't see a parking machine to pay at either). It was an all day rate, and an employee said make sure you pay before midnight.
I appealed, declined, I appealed to POPLA and unsuccessful. So my question is: Am I screwed? Do I now need to make payment?
