Microsoft Log-in Problem

I am having a problem logging in to One Drive and Skype on my Windows10 PC.

For example with One Drive in particular (the same thing happens with Skype) I receive a message on start up stating…

“One Drive isn’t signed in. Please enter your sign-in info to start syncing again.”

However when I try to sign in a black rectangle pops up covering the sign-in window followed by an error message…

I’m also getting notification that my Microsoft account needs attention but again all I get is the same black screen pop-up when trying the fix…

I have no problems accessing any of these apps from my mobile phone.

Tried googling for a solution but so far without success.

  • I know this sounds silly but have you tried rebooting your pc and then trying again

Thanks for the suggestions but neither worked.
In the end I restored the whole shebang from an previous disc image.
I think I must have b**lsed-up/deleted a registry entry somewhere when uninstalling some old programmes.
